Thankful

I am one lucky girl. These two boys mean everything to me. I'm thankful for trips with them. I'm so thankful that God has blessed us so very much. I hope that I am as good as a mommy as they are son and husband. How did I get so lucky? Wow.

Mikey's Salon

When my sister and I were little we hated getting our hair washed. We had (and still do) extremely thick wavy/curly hair. Add that to a tender scalp and you can see the problem. We would cry and beg to wash our hair "tomorrow night" knowing when tomorrow night came we would beg for another night.

My parents had it rough with two girls with this crazy hair. So they got creative. My mom would help us with bath time and dad to take care of our hair. I think he liked the challenge!! My dad really enjoyed washing our hair. One at a time, he would lay us on the kitchen counter with our heads over the sink. He even rolled up a towel to put under our neck. He turned into "Mikey" our hair professional. He even had this voice he would use. I really wish I could remember it. He claims to not remember it either.

Anyway, he would wash our hair and talk to us about our day. Making us totally forget our hatred for hair wash night. He used the sprayer to get all the shampoo out. This was my favorite part!

Every time I give Collin a bath I think back to all those times my dad picked me up and put me on the counter and turned into his character. All just to make something I hated more enjoyable. I hope and pray for as much creativity and patience as my dad has when Collin has things he hates that have to be done!

For the record: Collin loves bath time very much! He actually cries when I take him out! I hope he continues with that love!
